On occasions an enclosure will fail to satisfy the integrity test requirements, either by yielding a retention time that falls short of the required 10 minutes, by not achieving an adequate concentration (making suppression questionable) or if it doesn’t have an adequate pressure relief facility this could disrupt suppression capabilities (“distribution of the agent” or worse still damage the structure which could cause excessive agent loss) any of these are an issue which needs to be resolved.
An enclosures ability to retain the suppressing agent once discharged into the area is recognized as one of the most important requirements of any suppression system. A suppression system can only operate as intended in an enclosure that is adequately sealed, preventing an excess loss of agent whilst at the same time keeping air ingress to a minimum. Excessive leakage could cause the system to fail due to air ingress and loss of the extinguishing agent.
Remedial work will then be required to reduce the leakage and thereby stem any loss of agent. The amount of remedial work depends upon the amount of leakage identified during Room Integrity Testing and to ensure a positive result is achieved.
We will investigate the results and determine the cause. We will then put together a plan of works to rectify the defective points and thus redeem the fire suppressing capabilities.
In most cases we can guarantee that a positive result will be achieved following remedial works, however, to achieve this we would need adequate access to the area. In cases where this is not possible, we cannot guarantee the result.
Here at Pressure Test, we offer a comprehensive remedial work service that covers a number of things such as sealing, retesting and much more. We offer remedial work for all types of gaseous fire suppression systems and work with clients throughout the UK. All of the work is carried out by our own trained engineers, so you’ll be in safe hands.
Remedial work is important to ensure your system continues to run smoothly. For further information please contact us.
